About
Thijmen Meijer is the COO and Co-founder of UniPrisma Venture Studio, where he helps transform innovation into investor-ready ventures through co-building, operational excellence, and strategic talent placement. With more than a decade of international experience in human operations and venture building, he combines systematic team building with a deep belief that companies grow best when people grow with them.
Thijmen began his career in hospitality in the Netherlands, working in five-star hotels and large-scale restaurant concepts. He held leadership positions at Hilton Worldwide and Bierfabriek, learning what it means to create exceptional service and build teams that thrive under pressure. Hospitality shaped his people-first philosophy and taught him that strong organizations work when people care about each other and their shared purpose.
In 2012, Thijmen moved from Amsterdam to Budapest. Without speaking Hungarian, he took an unexpected turn into recruitment and joined Randstad Enterprise. There he grew from a junior recruiter into Talent Acquisition Lead for EMEA, managing regional teams and large accounts. Later, he joined KPMG Global Services Hungary, where he built three new departments from scratch: Talent Acquisition, Global Mobility, and Learning and Development. His work focused on creating sustainable systems for people and performance, from competency frameworks to leadership programs that helped the company evolve beyond transactional HR.
After his years in the corporate world, Thijmen wanted to build something that reflected his own values. In 2017 he founded Meijer & Co, an executive search and HR advisory firm headquartered in Budapest, serving clients across EMEA. The firm quickly became known for its transparent partnerships, data-driven delivery, and long-term client relationships. Meijer & Co later joined Talentor International, one of the world’s top executive search networks, where Thijmen now also serves as Managing Partner for Talentor Hungary.
He has continued to build beyond business. As Founder of 24 The Planet Budapest, Thijmen turned a small idea into a growing environmental movement that connects cities such as Amsterdam, Budapest, and New York through 24-hour charity walks for the planet. He also acts as Non-Executive Director at MelonApp, supporting innovation in HR technology, and partners with Team for the Planet to drive collective climate action.
In 2025, Thijmen co-founded UniPrisma Venture Studio together with Karoly Kovacs. UniPrisma brings venture building, venture capital, and a European university association under one ecosystem. As COO, Thijmen shapes ventures from story to structure, combining strategic talent placement with operational design. His goal is to turn promising ideas into sustainable, fundable companies that can scale with purpose.
A Dutch founder living in Budapest and a father, Thijmen brings purpose and responsibility to everything he builds. His motivation is simple: to create companies that make a lasting positive impact and to help shape a future where his grandchildren will still experience snow.
